The Company In 1977, Roberto Coin founded the company that would bear his name in Vicenza, the city of Gold. Initially, the company was intended for production on behalf of some of the most prestigious brands of international fine jewelry. The Roberto Coin brand was launched in 1996. Success was quick and extraordinary. By 2000, only four years after the brand’s birth, Roberto Coin positioned itself seventh amongst the best-known jewelry brands in the United States. Two years later in 2002, the brand ranked third in the international panorama and first among Italian jewelers. The headquarters is in Vicenza, Italy and is assisted by foreign branches as well as by Roberto Coin Inc. on Fifth Avenue in New York City.

The Ruby The ruby has always been enveloped in a legendary aura, and due to its exceptional quality of maintaining beauty throughout time it is considered eternal, like true love. According to an ancient belief, wearing a ruby close to the skin promoted long life, health and happiness and even today it is believed to possess these magic powers including the extraordinary ability of giving peace. In 1996, Roberto Coin started signing his jewels by setting a small ruby hidden on the inside of each piece, allowing the distinguished gem to kiss the skin.

Since then, this tradition has become the exclusive signature of every jewel by Roberto Coin, dedicated as a secret gift of good wishes to every woman lucky enough to wear one of his exclusive creations. In light of the recent conflicts taking place in Burma, and of the consequent US government act* which prohibits the importation of rubies and jade from the country, Roberto Coin has decided to use only synthetic rubies as an absolute guarantee that the stones set on his jewels do not come from regions in turmoil. Synthetic rubies have exactly the same physical and aesthetic characteristics as natural rubies and are guaranteed to be “conflict free”. *Tom Lantos Block Burmese JADE act of 2008.

Joie de Vivre ‘Joie de Vivre’ is a passionate tribute to the joy of life; to the beauty and the elegance of femininity. This best defines the individuality of Roberto Coin’s creations; jewels born from the desire of experimenting with lights, shapes, and colors and from exploring new interpretations of the most precious element in the quest for unprecedented brilliance.

This quest is an exclusive mix of passion, creativity, and the constant practice of design and production. It requires an attentive glance, beyond the boundaries of jewelry, to the world of fashion, regarded as style and elegance, rather than any single fleeting trend.

Roberto Coin’s jewels are an exclusive mix of fantasy, intuition, creative exuberance and aesthetic sensitivity. Fine jewelry creations are like works of art. Each piece is the result of a journey amongst cultures and multiethnic influences, between echoes from the past and projections into the future. The first Roberto Coin collections came to represent technological innovation and creativity.

It is this legacy of goldsmith craftsmanship that made Vicenza famous in the world. Initially, gold was the main feature, with an intricate weave of precious threads making up the elaborate and fascinating fabrics. Today, this excellence of workmanship is in constant evolution and experimentation and remains the distinctive mark of the brand.

Throughout the years gems and diamonds have been added to gold, establishing a firm place in the world of fine jewelry. Inventiveness, creativity, excellence of materials and fine craftsmanship as well as the ability to respond promptly to the peculiarities of a highly diversified international market of tastes and trends, makes the Roberto Coin brand truly unique. In order to satisfy the diverse demands of the European, Asian, North and South American markets, the company produces more than six hundred different models a year; a remarkable record that has contributed substantially to creating and maintaining Roberto Coin’s acquired fame as Ambassador of Italian style in the world.

The Kimberley Process Roberto Coin purchases polished diamonds only from legitimate sources that subscribe to an international system of certification and warranties known as the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) and The System of Warranties.

Roberto Coin has a zero-tolerance policy towards conflict diamonds. The KPCS is a joint government, diamond industry and NGO initiative that imposes extensive requirements on its member countries to enable them to certify the origin of their rough diamonds and prevent illicit or “conflict” diamonds from entering legitimate trade. The System of Warranties is an extension of the Kimberley Process where members of the diamond trade provide a written guarantee on all invoices that the diamonds are conflict free. All warranties whether given or received must be audited and reconciled on an annual basis. The System of Warranties provides assurance that diamonds are from conflict free sources all the way to the diamond jewelry retailer
